Tourism

With a capital city voted ‘the fifth most liveable in the world,’ framed by 3,800 kilometres of coastline and unique access to the great Australian Outback, South Australia has so much to offer visitors.

Our tourism industry currently employs 36,000 and generates approximately $5.9 billion per annum for the South Australian economy. But we have ambitious plans to grow this to $8 billion by 2020.

There has never been a better time to invest in tourism as the state is experiencing a substantial boost in air and cruise access, indicating strong business confidence.

With unprecedented public and private sector investment Adelaide has become a vibrant destination of international significance with a re-developed Riverbank Precinct encompassing the expansion of the Adelaide Convention Centre to 3,500 seat meeting venue, and Adelaide Oval to a 50,000 seat stadium and a world class health and medical research precinct.

South Australia’s nature-based experiences are truly world class. In global terms, our wildlife and wild places are as good as it gets.

We are developing experiences in nature that are like nowhere else, including standout walking journeys across the landscape, unrivalled marine and native wildlife experiences and cutting edge sensory experiences that leave a lasting impression.

Our State Government is ready to support ambitious ideas that further develop the unique appeal of South Australia.
